Winter 09 Interweave, new Sparkly yarns
The new issue of Interweave Knits (winter 09) arrived today. You can see a snapshot of the projects and the yarns used here.
New colors of Jewel (a beautiful lavendar and dark silver) arrived today from Feza with a new color of Festival.
Looking for stocking stuffers? I have the fold and slip scissors, markers (including the ones from Cat Bordhi with letters on them) and the box of 80 sock markers, etc.
The new class list is up. I had a talk on 11/19 that I took a lot of printed class schedules too. The extras are in the bin outside the store. Please check the classes button for additional classes that have been added since it was printed. I always date the class list that are printed and the list that is posted online so you can tell right away if you have the latest listing.

Recent magazines that use yarn you can buy at Yarnia
I went through some recent magazines to see how many of the projects a knitter could make from yarns I have in stock in the store. You can see the list here.
If you want a yarn from a company that I buy from, I can always order it for you. I am also happy to help you figure out yarn substitutions.
The new Interweave Knit Accessories magazine (enough patterns that it is really a book) is in stock as well as the latest Cast on Magazine. This issue of cast has tutorials in lace and the basic watch cap. Cat bordhi's latest book is back in stock. Also new this week is Vogue's Shawls andWraps, crazy Lace, Priscilla's Tabi socks, Susan Anderson's Itty-bitty toys.
New pattern books from Sirdar include Tiny tot essentials, ooh la la, doll wardrobe 2.
New pattern books from Dale of Norway (including the new ski book and baby books)
New yarns in: noro silk garden, Dale of norway Falk, Cascade colors, Feza sparkly stuff (Festival, jewel, alp premier, alp oriental, alp dazzle)
Some random gift thoughts:
If you are making something for someone, have someone take your picture doing it. What a lovely thing it would be to have blanket, sweater etc and the picture of the person who thought enough of you to make you something.
Dishcloths (round or square ) wrapped around a bar of soap or included in a bag with soap makes a thoughtful but economical gift.
If your are starting to think gifts either to buy or to hint at:
We carry gift certificates in any amount.
Give the gift of class - Give someone the gift of learning how to knit, crochet or spin
Denise Interchangeable knitting or crochet needles
Addi Interchangeable needles
A set of brittany double point needles
A set of Bryflex straight needles
A swift
A ball winder
A skein of cashmere with 200-400 yds on it. Actually any yarn that you usually hesitate to buy now is the time to get someone to gift it to you.
New spin class coming Nov 18 6-8. Click on Class button to see more class offerings or pick up a schedule at the store. Also notice there are several classes that give you the option of signing up for 1 or more in the session..... 1 class for $12 or 2 for $20.
Tip to make your computer help you: The search button (it probably has the yahoo or google symbol) at the top of your browser is very handy. Old patterns will call for 4 oz of wool. Most yarns are now put up in 3.5 oz (100 gram ) skeins. You can put 16oz to grams in the google search button and it will give you exactly how many grams that is (453 grams). Now you know that you need 5 skeins. You can also use this space to convert centimeters to inches. If you enter 92 centimeters to inches, it will tell you that 92 Cm is 36 inches.
google translate or Bablefish are great websites to translate that german pattern on the back of your yarn to English. (it will translate other languages as well)

Congratulations to the winners of the Store Anniversary raffle!
I had my daughter pull the tickets for me.
Congratulations
Beverly- the fold away blocking board
Audrey - The bag of Cascade Lana D'oro in Ruby
Debbie - the wooly blocking board
Jeanne - bottle of Soak
Arlene - Bag of Dark Horse Fantasy in Teal
Debby - Bottle of Soak
Check out the class list. I have broken the small projects class so you can sign up for 1 or 3. I thought this might be more flexible during the holidays. If you need help getting your projects done or started this is the class for you. There is still time to make little things.
I will be working soon on the Jan schedule, so if you have a group who wants to arrange for a group lesson now is the time to put dibs on a time slot. I know everyone is trying to figure out how to accomplish Thanksgiving (I have 17 or more coming to my house), but all you have to do is pick a day and time at this point.
